Following a one-year break, Newcity is pleased to announce the return of our biggest performing arts feature of the year, Players: The Fifty People Who Really Perform in Chicago, in our January 2022 issue.
This edition will celebrate Chicago’s theater, dance, opera and comedy communities at a pivotal time, with the city’s performing arts organizations navigating the long-anticipated return of live performance amid the looming effects of the pandemic. We hope that this issue can be a rallying cry for the return of performing arts in Chicago.
In this year’s edition we’ll be chronicling the behind-the-scenes forces of the culture after a time of unprecedented change and evolution in the industry. It’s the first in Newcity’s 2022 Leaders of Culture series, which seeks to showcase Chicago’s cultural life through its leaders across the city’s creative fields.
