Since 1993, Newcity’s Best of Chicago has been the publishing event of the year, with hundreds of the kinds of bests no one else can even imagine, and an advertising roster that acknowledges the can’t-miss character of this issue.
This year, we’re taking it up another notch, both in format and in content. In addition to hundreds of our writers’ best, we’re crafting eight or so “canons” of Chicago; that is thoughtful essay-like lists of singular features of our city, written in our iconic idiosyncratic way.
We’re publishing this in a special magazine format on premium paper that will heighten our equally legendary design for this edition, and encourage audiences to keep this on their coffee table for a very long time. Maybe forever.
