Project: Hijack the Newspaper
Next week marks the biggest night/weekend of art openings of the year. And to prepare audiences, Newcity brings the Big Art Issue. Not only will we publish our usual mix of reviews and features, and run down a list of the openings, but we’re once again turning this issue of Newcity into an artists’ project itself.
This year we solicited proposals from artists who wanted to take over our cover, and our feature well, as an artistic undertaking. We’ve had considerable attention paid to this call, both in terms of social media activity as well as in actual proposals submitted, so we have little doubt it will be the talk of town that week and beyond.
Deadline for space reservation: Wednesday, August 28
Deadline for artwork: Friday, August 30 (or during the holiday weekend)
