When we launched the Dime Stories column with renowned Chicago artist Tony Fitzpatrick a few months back, we knew we’d found lightning in a bottle. As in, some of you would get a charge out of it, while others would feel like it fried your brain. The best thing is, nobody’s neutral—this thing’s electrified.
Tony’s not just a latter-day Picasso either; nor a mere Royko for the twenty-first century. No he’s a Renaissance man for these real times, and the plays he writes are a treat for the senses. If you enjoy his newsprint voice, ya gotta hear it live. It’s even better.
We’ve put together a special night for his Newcity fans to see his brand-new show, “Nickel History: The Nation of Heat,” and arranged a special offer for this Friday, July 20. He’s teamed up with his pal Stan Klein for this show, and they’re bringing in Joe Pug as a special musical guest this weekend only.
So take advantage of your rights as a Newcitizen, and enjoy a $5 per ticket discount. Just use the code “DIME” online at steppenwolf.org or on the phone at (312) 335-1650. And do it right away, ‘cuz the Steppenwolf Garage is an intimate space and it might just sell out while you’re counting your nickels.
See you Friday.
