We’re less than two weeks away from the publication of Lit 50, our annual assessment of the top players in Chicago’s literary world. This edition has become something of an institution itself, winning awards and generating volumes of cocktail chatter among the smart set. Everyone who cares about books and the written word will be reading this issue, so if that’s a market that matters to you, please consider advertising in this special edition. (Here are links to the previous two editions: 2008 and 2007)
As you know, we’re all marching in lockstep toward the death of literature. Publishers are cutting back, newspapers are ending book reviewing and a tsunami of “conventional wisdom” is tearing down the cultural foundations that we’ve spent generations constructing in favor of a digital future that might not necessarily support the values that many of us share.
Newcity has decided to swim into the tsunami. We’re working on plans to INCREASE coverage of books, poetry and literature. In fact, we’ll be launching a web site dedicated to the subject, Newcity Lit, coincident with this edition.
Please get in the water with us, and advertise in the Lit 50 edition on June 4. Your support will make a big difference, and will resonant with Chicago’s audience of book buyers.
We need space reservations by May 30 and artwork by June 4.
